Job Requirements of Electrical Engineer - IoT Systems:
Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Fundamentals:
Strong understanding of circuit design, power systems, analog and digital electronics and electrical components.
- Embedded Systems Programming:
Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages for embedded systems development.
- IoT Platforms:
Familiarity with major cloud-based IoT platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Networking Protocols:
Knowledge of relevant networking protocols such as PCP/IP, UDP and Wi-Fi
- Data Analysis:
Ability to interpret and analyze data collected from IoT devices to generate actionable insights.
- Security Concepts:
Understanding of IoT security best practices, including encryption, authentication and access control
- Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and interpret engineering documents and drawings. Must be able to translate engineering jargon into understandable English (both written and verbal) for customers, Marketing, Sales, and others. Use precise language in dealings with external and internal customers.
- Mathematical Skills: Must be able to understand engineering principles, scientific theory, financial terms, and mathematics up to and including simple calculus.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to visualize complex mechanical interfaces and deal with multiple variables. Make sound engineering and personnel judgements in a timely manner that benefit the company, customers, and consumers.
- Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Ability to climb ladders to inspect product installations a plus.

Electrical Engineer - IoT Systems

- Hardware Design: Design electrical circuits, schematics, and PCB layouts for IoT devices, including power management, analog, digital signal processing, and communication interfaces like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular networks.
- Sensor Integration: Select and integrate various sensors (temperature, motion, etc.) into electrical systems, ensuring accurate data collection and transmission.
- Embedded Systems Development: Develop firmware for microcontrollers within IoT devices, managing data acquisition, processing and communication protocols.
- Cloud Integration: Design and implement data pipelines to connect IoT devices to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) for data storage, analysis and visualization
- Network Protocols: Understand and utilize relevant IoT communication protocols like MQTT, CoAP and REST API’s to facilitate data exchange between devices and the cloud
- Security Implementation: Design and implement security measures for IoT devices, including data encryption, authentication and access control to protect against cyber threats.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing of electrical systems and IoT devices to ensure functionality, reliability and compliance with relevant standards.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software and network connectivity in deployed IoT systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross0functional teams including software developers, data analysts and product managers to bring IoT solutions to market.
