We have an excellent opportunity for a Garage Door Training Center Instructor in our Troy, Ohio manufacturing location.

As the Training Center Instructor for Clopay, your primary mission will be to facilitate the delivery of Clopay developed courses for both customers and Clopay team members in our new, state of the art learning center in Troy, Ohio.   You will have the opportunity to use your field experience and communication skills to help others succeed and grow.  Here, is why you can make a difference every day.

In this position, the successful candidate will perform the following job responsibilities:

  • Conduct customer and internal training using a variety of instructional techniques and delivery methods, including classroom based learning, hands-on learning and virtual learning.
  • Maintain a safety work place environment.
  • Lead the training of garage door installation techniques for both commercial and residential applications.
  • Manage the delivery of up to four courses and instructional materials to ensure timeliness and effectiveness.
  • Refresh and continually improve existing courses and instructional materials to ensure timeliness and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with customers and Clopay management to ensure learning needs are met.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the learning center including rosters, student records, training aids, equipment and supplies to support the course schedule.
  • Co-ordinate International Door Education Association (IDEA) testing and certification for eligible course participants.
  • Provide input during the course development process, including design considerations and technical expertise.
  • Manage multiple tasks and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Respond to the training requests from customers and Clopay team members when not engaged in the key areas of responsibility previously listed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

About you - The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics/skills:

  • Superior communication and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrate an engaging "stage presence" and the ability to guide a classroom of adult learners.
  • Awareness of experience in design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning curriculum and methodology.
  • Strong leadership, teaching and creative problem solving skills.Ability to travel (10 - 15%) to facilitate future remote learning events.
  • Get it done attitude with a strong sense of team spirit.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb step ladder and use tools needed for garage door/operator installation.
  • Ability to plan, use and implement a wide variety of learning methods and technology, including online and instructor led.

What we look for - Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of helping individuals or small groups learn by delivering classroom and/or job site training.
  • Demonstrable experience in the creation and design of training tools and methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High school degree with some post-secondary education preferred.

What we look for - Bonus Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to plan, manage and lead a fast-paced business operation.
  • Awareness or experience in design, development, implementation and evaluation of training courses and methodology.
  • Previous garage door installation experience is a strong plus (Candidates with no installation experience must be willing and able to learn by assisting experienced technicians).
  • Familiarity with instructional design concepts.
